NATIONAL PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

This is our National  Philosophy of Education:

"Education in Malaysia is an on-going efforts towards further developing the potential of individuals in a holistic and integrated manner, in order to produce individuals who are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically, balanced and harmoniously, based on a firm belief in and devotion to God. Such an effort is designed to produce Malaysian citizens who are knowledgeable and competent, who possess high moral citizens standards and who are responsible and capable of achieving a high level of personal well being to contribute to the betterment of the nation, family and society.

"Pendidikan di Malaysia adalah satu usaha berterusan ke arah memperkembangkan lagi potensi individu secara menyeluruh dan bersepadu untuk mewujudkan insan yang seimbang dan harmonis dari segi intelek, rohani, emosi dan jasmani berdasarkan kepada kepercayaan dan kepatuhan kepada Tuhan. Usaha ini adalah bagi melahirkan rakyat Malaysia yang berilmu pengetahuan, berakhlak mulia, bertanggungjawab, berketrampilan dan berkeupayaan mencapai kesejahteraan diri serta memberi sumbangan terhadap keharmonian dan kemakmuran keluarga, masyarakat dan negara




NATIONAL SCIENCE EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

This is our National Science Education Philosophy:

"In consonance with the National Education Philosophy, science education in Malaysia nurtures a science and technology culture by focusing on the development of individuals who are competitive, dynamic, robust and resilient and able to master scientific knowledge and technological competency."

In Malay version:

"Selaras dengan Falsafah Pendidikan Sains di Malaysia memupuk budaya Sains dan Teknologi dengan memberi tumpuan kepada perkembangan individu yang kompetitif, dinamik, tangkas dan berdaya tahan serta dapat menguasai ilmu sains dan keterampilan teknologi."




TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

One of the most important elements that must present in one's life is education. Learning is the process of obtains knowledge, skills and the elements to be better person from the education itself. As a future teacher, I strongly believe that educating is not an easy job. It is a professional job that includes lots of skills, knowledge, passion, dedication and hard work. As Nelson Mandela said "Education is the most powerful weapon which you use to change the world." Hence, as a teacher, the responsibility to educate and transform our Malaysians to better people lies upon the shoulder of all the teachers and future teachers.

          As a teacher, regardless of his or her subject of interest, should always possess few elements; passion, preparation, art of teaching and life-long learning. Teaching, in my point of view, is not just about to deliver the knowledge to students but to educate them along the process to become a better person. Besides that, as a teacher, must help the students to discover and develop the potentials in students. The teacher plays a significant role in the students’ life.

          As a future Science teacher, I believed that memorise all the knowledge and contents in science subject is not enough for teaching if we do not know how to deliver it in the proper ways to students. As a Science teacher, we also must equip our self with the art of teaching. The element that differentiates teacher profession from other profession is the art of teaching. Many have the knowledge but few can deliver it to everyone. So, I believe that as a future teacher, we must equip ourselves with art of teaching.

          Besides that, passion for the career also must be develop in myself as teaching requires lots of passion to make it meaningful and a success. Preparation is also an essential element that must always present in my mind. Teaching without preparation is just like entering into a war field without any weapon. Preparation for teaching and learning process in classroom include the stages to teach, the teaching tools to be used, the good values to be instilled in the students, the objectives, the content, the method to teach, and others. Before ones become a teacher and set foot in a classroom, passion and preparation must be nurtured in the individual.

          Life-long learning also is very significant for Science teachers. I believe that a good Science teacher will always equip themselves with the latest knowledge, skill of teaching, and keep up with the latest teaching technology. This is because science is a very dynamic subject. A Science teacher must always expand the scope of learning as science is found in everywhere. As a teacher, one must know that “An education isn’t how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It’s being able to differentiate between what you know and what you don’t (Anatole France).”  As a Science teacher or even other subject teacher, this quote should always be keep in mind and be humble to learn anything from any level of individuals as knowledge is not just can be give by educated people but sometimes the knowledge come from the least expected people. Knowledge to learn also can come from different kinds of sources.

          As a future Science teacher, I strongly believe that the passion, preparation, art of teaching and life-long learning are the elements that I should always posses to become a good Science teacher.
