Reflection

Information and Communication Technology in Science (SSI 3013) is a compulsory major course for those who taking Bachelor of Science With Education in Sultan Idris Education University. In this course, rationale and advantages of ICT applications in Science education are discussed among the lecturer and students. Topics that covered in this course include simulation, modelling, spreadsheets, data logger, interactive whiteboard and other ICT application.

          I'm taking this course in semester 1 session 2012/2013 and my lecturer for this course is Encik Azmi Ibrahim. During this course, I have learned a lot of new knowledge and skills related to ICT. Blogging is one of the new skills that I have learned through this course. I have successfully created my own E-Portfolio online. Before taking this course, I don’t know how to create blog and don’t understand the benefits about blogging.

          Besides that, issues related to ICT in education like data logging, smart schools and simulation have been discussed in the lecture and this indeed has improve my knowledge about the application and benefits of ICT in our education system. In addition, I have learned some skills in this course such as upload and share slide and document to public and blogging. All these skills can be used when I work in school later. I also manage to practice and reinforce my skills of create movie using Window Life Movie Maker and decorate picture using Paint.

          Stella, one of the simulation softwares also being taught in lecture. By using Stella, I can understand the benefits of simulation. I strongly agree that our education system should include simulation in it as the benefits that can be brought by simulation are lots. Interactive whiteboard also is a very interactive tool for teacher to be use in teaching and learning process. In addition, data logging is also one of the good inventions in ICT as it helps to organize the results obtained from experiment and research. All these ICT tools should be considered deeply by our government to improve our education system.

          As the conclusion, I have learned lots of new things from this course and I very happy that I attend this course although the assignments are lots but the knowledge and skills that obtained from this course are very valuable and useful for future.
